Kathleen & Josh celebrated their intimate Nova Scotia wedding this past summer. While the planning of their big day had a few revisions due to the ongoing pandemic, it was a magical day in Fall River, Nova Scotia.

Kathleen has been one of my best friends for the past 17 years, so naturally I was absolutely thrilled when she asked me to be her Maid of Honour! I feel like we had been talking about her big day for so long! Therefore, to not only be able to stand by her side, but also assist with all of her planning, design, and florals was such an honour.

Kathleen & Josh had originally planned to have their wedding at Oak Island Resort this past June. When Covid-19 began, we had to begin talking about changing plans… I feel for every couple who has had to make new arrangements for their wedding day. It has been such an emotionally tough summer.

One thing Kath & Josh were sure of, was that they would have some type of celebration during the summer of 2020 for sure.

I was so excited to finally work with so many talented vendors from Nova Scotia on this wedding. I am so thankful for this dream team of vendors and that everyone was so accommodating during the re-planning of their big day.

They ultimately decided to cancel their venue and we began planning for a small, intimate wedding at Josh’s family property. We basically planned a whole new wedding within 3 weeks! With restrictions constantly changing in Nova Scotia, I ended up heading home much earlier than expected because of the isolation rule. Following the rules and restrictions to ensure everyone’s health and safety has been our top priority when planning for smaller weddings this past summer.

Kathleen & Josh said their “I do’s” in front of 50 of their closest family and friends with a gorgeous lakeside ceremony. They exchanged personal, heartfelt vows and even had Kathleen’s brother marry them. I love that our couples are being more creative during this time. Honestly, their day was much more intimate and special because of these special details!

Guests spent the remainder of the wedding day at Josh’s family residence. It was a perfect summer evening spent sipping cocktails, eating delicious food by Asado Catering, listening to the sweetest speeches from family and friends, and watching the newlyweds share their first dance, and family dances.

Kathleen’s aunt had reached out to me a few weeks before the wedding day with an amazing idea. She wanted to create a video for Kathleen & Josh so that all of the family members and friends who were not able to attend, could send in videos of their best wishes for the newlyweds. With the help from the amazingly talented ladies at Arrow & Knot Productions, we were able to surprise Kath & Josh with this video during the reception. Let’s just say there was not a dry eye in the room!

Kath, standing by your side on your big day was so special and I am so thankful for our many years of friendship. You were such a stunning beautiful bride. Your Anais Anette gown from Revelle Bridal was made for you. Josh is so lucky to have you as his wife!

To the newlyweds, I love you both and I am so happy I could be there for your big day! Not even 2 weeks of isolation could have kept me from missing this special day. Wishing you so much happiness as you begin this new chapter as husband and wife! Xo.
