Have you been dreaming of creative ways to ask your besties to be your bridesmaid?

This is such a fun time in your wedding planning journey, inviting some of your favourite people to be a part of your wedding party! I LOVE surprises and gift giving, so I cannot wait to be engaged one day and ask my besties to be a part of our big day.

Giving a proposal gift is the perfect way to choose something personal that they can cherish and enjoy.

Think about your relationship with each one of these friends. What do you love doing together? What do you love drinking together? What are some of your favourite memories or trips? This is your time to show these people how much they mean to you.

As a wedding planner, our brides frequently ask us what we recommend getting for bridesmaids proposals, as well as gifts for the wedding day for your bridal party. We love dreaming up new ideas with you and are so excited when you find new places or ideas for these gifts! We’d love to hear what you did for your bridal party!!

These gifts don’t have to be over the top, it truly is the thought that counts.

There are so many sources of inspiration out there these days; Instagram, blogs, wedding magazines, online, etc. With so many ideas out there, I thought it would be helpful if you compiled some of our favourite ideas into a little gift guide for you! Keep in mind, like I mentioned above, finding a gift that resonates with you and your bestie is what makes the gift so special.

I am excited for you all to read through this guide and get some new inspiration for gifts for your bridesmaid proposals, bachelorette weekend, and also for the wedding day!

Jewelry or Accessories

What lady doesn’t love a cute accessory or a new piece of jewelry?!

When choosing a jewelry item or accessory, think about practicality and personality. A dainty set of studs or an adorable initial necklace would be perfect!

There are also so many personalized jewelry ideas on Etsy, including this necklace and bracelet! If you’ve thought about your bridesmaids dress color(s), think about getting jewelry that they can wear on the wedding day as well. These baguette earrings from Stella & Dot would be beautiful.

More ideas for accessories could include a personalized clutch, hat, or even something to bring on the bachelorette, like a make up bag, custom shirts, or luggage tags! A luggage tag or passport holder would also be super cute if you are planning a destination wedding!

Robes or PJs

A robe or a custom set of PJs are the perfect gift for the morning of your big day and probably one of the most popular options. Having all of your besties are in their robes or PJs make for such cute, cohesive photos during the getting ready portion of your wedding day. Be sure to have them steamed or ironed before slipping into them! A new trending gift or loungewear for the morning of your wedding day is rompers! Check out these Love Ophelia Rompers or Smash & Tess for the absolute comfiest getting ready attire.  Plus they get to continue wearing them after your big day has come and gone!

Bubbly or Wine

How could you go wrong with their fave bottle of mini champagne or wine?! Style their favourite beverage with a cute card and you’re done. To make this more personal, think about a fun memory you’ve shared with them drinking this specific drink and write about it in your card!

You could also have a personalized label printed for a wine or champagne bottle that reads something like “___________, will you be my bridesmaid?”

A Handwritten Note and Card

One of the most thoughtful options. You should include a card with all gifts, but using just a card is just as thoughtful during this time. It may feel small but it is your way to express your gratitude for this person. Sitting down and writing out a card allows you to express your love, appreciation, and friendship to your besties. Writing out a card also allows you to share stories and memories and reflect on the best moments spent with these people.

A Perfectly Packaged Gift Box

A gift box allows you to include so many fun, personal items! You could even use a few of the examples above to put together in a pretty gift box. Other ideas to include would be a yummy smelling candle, bath soaps, boozy gummy bears, a small perfume, or their favourite chocolates or candies. You could also include a mini champagne bottle or personalized cookies, and of course – a handwritten card or note!

Personalized Gifts

A personalized gift could include anything from a champagne flute for the morning of the wedding to a monogrammed duffle bag that they can use for the bachelorette, a weekend away, the wedding day, and for many trips after. Personalized sunglasses, make up bags or totes are very practical. Hand-lettered hangers are also great for the wedding day, especially for hanging their dresses on for photos!

Remember to check around with local vendors if you have a specific vision in mind for your proposal gift or something special for the wedding day, they would love to help you! Shopping local and supporting small businesses is so important! We are so fortunate to have so many lovely vendors here in Ottawa.

This is such an exciting time in your wedding planning journey! It is important to choose your bridal party carefully. You want your most supportive, caring, loving, fun besties by your side. The ones that will be there for your late night phone calls, planning dates, wine nights, and unlimited text messages. They’ll help guide you through choosing your shoes, picking your dream gown, finding the perfect shade of blush for a bridesmaids dress, and anything else you can think of. They’ll be a listening ear for any stressful moments you may encounter and be the last ones on the dance floor until the music stops on your big day. Your bridal party will be your support system through this journey, along with myself (if I’m your wedding planner)!

If you have any questions or would like to chat about any ideas you have for a bridesmaid proposal or wedding gift, send me a message! Should I put together a similar guide but for the grooms and groomsmen?!

I would love to know how you asked your bridal party to stand by your side on your big day!
